      Or (I hope) it’s the only way they might be able to push it through without US intervention. Or at the very least have the US say no and further damage their image (which tbh the US will likely take the bait at this point).

      In a system designed to protect the status quo I don’t think you could do anything other than “both sides” it.

      As a side note: I often find myself trying to figure out how to do something in a system that doesn’t exist. Unfortunately we have to be aware of the current material conditions and the way things are rather than how we wish they were. That way we can be better at focusing the efforts of campaigns in which we seek to win power back, and ultimately bring about a just society.

      Edit after reading a few comments:

      It very well may be just a way for the blame to be placed on an individual.

    I’m not so optimistic. They’re going with “both sides are doing genocide,” the US and the UK might just pressure them into dropping the warrants on Netanyahu and Gallant, and push hard only for Hamas.

    Which they can then spin into “see? The ICC agrees! Hamas are the real genociders”

      They said Hamas used rape as a weapon and they gave harsher prosecutions for Hanyeh, Sinwar and Mohammed Deif, third one is useless because Abu Khaled is a man who we don’t even know how he looks like lmao

    Isn’t the rape thing debunked? Why is it any time some action is taken against the empire the rape card / they were given viagra is the very first thing the Empire pulls out?

    Why the fuck is the lost longer against Hamas than Bibi? Why isn’t the list extended to genocide against the entire isntrael cabinet?

    This is just trying to minimize things to Bibi as if he’s the root of the genocidal culture of isntrael where’s zionist-despair, settlers , settler and hamas-base

    And where are the warrents for biden-supervised blinken-pain , and the rest of congress for knowingly arming and supplying a genocide?

      gets people’s libidinal juices flowing which is the foundation of about 80% of reactionary politics. Don’t worry about those complex geopolitics, we just need to go save the pure and virtuous white maiden from the barbarians!

    Coward shit honestly. There should be warrants put out against every official that has publicly made a statement advocating for genocide. Putting out a warrant on just Bibi gives Israel an easy out. Just replace and jail Bibi and the next genocidal ghoul can step in and keep things going.

    Bothsides-ing horseshit. Figures, the ICC likes to act like it’s not, but it’s just as vassalized to the cracker empire as the rest of the West is. If they weren’t, Hamas never would’ve been mentioned; it’d have been Bibi, his war cabinet, Biden, a solid seven-eighths of the Democrat party, and the CEOs of Boeing, Northrop-Grummond, and Raytheon.

      Yeah the ICJ is the court that’s multipolar, the ICC is just a tool of unipolar imperialistic western hegemony. The ICC doesn’t even pretend to be independent, they’re pretty open about being a tool of the west.

    Seems like the ICC is affirming their loyalty to the US and making it clear they do not wish to be taken seriously by the international community.
    I don’t know who process and authorize these applications, but it won’t be a surprise if the only warrants issued are for the resistance leaders.

    Not saying that this would strategically make sense, but tactically Hamas has the chance to do something really funny and turn at least one of their leaders in and make Israel look even worse.

    On the basis of evidence collected and examined by my Office, I have reasonable grounds to believe that Yahya SINWAR (Head of the Islamic Resistance Movement (“Hamas”) in the Gaza Strip), Mohammed Diab Ibrahim AL-MASRI, more commonly known as DEIF (Commander-in-Chief of the military wing of Hamas, known as the Al-Qassam Brigades), and Ismail HANIYEH (Head of Hamas Political Bureau) bear criminal responsibility for the following war crimes and crimes against humanity committed on the territory of Israel and the State of Palestine (in the Gaza strip) from at least 7 October 2023:

    Extermination as a crime against humanity, contrary to article 7(1)(b) of the Rome Statute;

    Murder as a crime against humanity, contrary to article 7(1)(a), and as a war crime, contrary to article 8(2)©(i);

    Taking hostages as a war crime, contrary to article 8(2)©(iii);

    Rape and other acts of sexual violence as crimes against humanity, contrary to article 7(1)(g), and also as war crimes pursuant to article 8(2)(e)(vi) in the context of captivity;

    Torture as a crime against humanity, contrary to article 7(1)(f), and also as a war crime, contrary to article 8(2)©(i), in the context of captivity;

    Other inhumane acts as a crime against humanity, contrary to article 7(l)(k), in the context of captivity;

    Cruel treatment as a war crime contrary to article 8(2)©(i), in the context of captivity; and

    Outrages upon personal dignity as a war crime, contrary to article 8(2)©(ii), in the context of captivity.

    Its impossible to accept these joke ass or even straight up already debunked allegations as crime just as a justification to do both sides. No kidding condemning Hamas leaders on an international court over murder as a crime against humanity? Like you have to be joking, if someone told me this is a birdsite shitpost I wouldn’t even doubt it.

    But sure take it seriously then IMO the fact they can’t do this without doing both sides is already another clear defeat for Palestine. The fact they’re using straight up Israeli oct 7th propaganda allegations as a basis to condemn Hamas is yet another defeat.

    I don’t see any reason to cheer this. So what if you magically arrest Benny over there? Both siding the genocide is a very bleak long term prospect, if you had any hopes for western institutions this is a red flag, not that people here need it but still.

    Maybe my initial impression will age like milk and 1 month from now the entire Israeli leadership is in jail and Palestinians are all cheering. Technically its possible but come on now lol.

    Let us today be clear on one core issue: if we do not demonstrate our willingness to apply the law equally, if it is seen as being applied selectively, we will be creating the conditions for its collapse. In doing so, we will be loosening the remaining bonds that hold us together, the stabilising connections between all communities and individuals, the safety net to which all victims look in times of suffering. This is the true risk we face in this moment.

    How much of a cockroach you must be to write this in 2024. This is the greatest election challenge of our time lol If I wasn’t already a communist this would be radicalizing me so much. This is peak liberalism.
