Larian Studios, makers of Baldurs Gate 3, released stats from the first weekend of the game being live including class and race choices of the players.     If I had to guess, this is because the earliest characters you can add to your party already cover most of the “unpopular” roles - fighter, cleric, rogue, wizard.

    We see a spike in classes that aren’t companions you get on a typical playthrough. These seem to be below the pick rate of what you would expect.

    Classes like Monk and (to a lesser extent) Bard are relatively unpopular in the tabletop regardless, leaving only really Paladin and Sorcerer as the standouts.
