Going from English grammar to German grammar is a pain because words we routinely drop in English are important in German and even though I know that, it’s something I keep forgetting 😭
But thank you so much again, I appreciate your time and effort in correcting me.
Luckily, Zangendeutsch is so hot right now, so I genuinely thought the meme was made by a German native speaker who deliberately wanted to make it sound a bit more English-ish. Don’t worry, you’re fine.
You certainly did not make my eyes bleed, grammar is extremely hard, and the meme works well and is more than understandable. I just know that it helped me along the way, when I got corrected, while I was learning English. So, I hope you did not take that as discouragement. German is really hard to learn not only because of it’s grammar, but I also heard a lot from native English speakers, that they lament that they go to Germany to learn to speak properly, and instead of being corrected and helped along with their German, when they speak to people, us Germans just take the opportunity to switch to English.
Enjoy your continuing journey, learning another language is very much worth it, not just in a practical sense, but also to have more flexibility in what one is able to express and think about.
I’m super grateful for you taking the time to correct me. It’s kindness like this that makes things stick. I remember someone told me once that there’s only really ten German words and everything else is just different combinations of those words and for some reason that made German seem a lot less daunting for me 😂. But thank you again, practical learning is always easier than theoretical learning.
Thank you so much. Sorry I made your eyes bleed.
