  • It’s poetically ironic how much the upper-middle-class will spend all that money just to look like us poors.

From the white-collar suburbanite that calls himself a ‘redneck’, to the CHUDs with sparkling pickups, I like to refer to them as ‘cosplay cowboys’. What’s worse is that they’re making their LARP somewhat real, look at how much cities, especially walkable cities are rapidly gentrifying, while the wasteful consoomery suburbs that cosplay cowboys prefer are now the closest thing to a place where us poors can live.

So in some sense, suburbs are where both the rich and poor live together for wildly different reasons.

  • Come to think of it, yeah.

I cannot believe I was ever actually afraid of these people. Maybe they’re only a threat because they outnumber us by the millions (never underestimate the power of stupid people in large groups), but individually they’re losers. Even the stereotypical right-wing bodybuilder, I have a cousin that fits the bill but he’s your run of the mill republican rather than an outright fash.

  • When I see Persona 4 and 5, it now makes more sense. They see themselves as the villain and they’re okay with that.

Spy x Family is the only thing I can squint and maybe see where they’re coming from. It’s about a simulated nuclear family becoming more organic, which I could see appealing to conservatives but not edgy 14 year olds that would see themselves as Adachi. Because even then, while the west are the “good guys”, most of the anime has been more about trying to establish peace rather than genocide the east.
