If this person thought the live-action Pinocchio remake was good, then they have zero sense of taste in cinema. Even Disney realized the end product was a giant turd and relegated it to an unceremonious Disney+ release with little fanfare.

I think that was the last one of their remakes that was kind of somewhat broadly liked. The Lion King made a bazillion dollars but everyone panned it and Mulan kinda bombed (also I recall there being some noise about woke Disney filming the movie in sight of le evil CCP concentration camps!!!)

I would assume this is a comment from an edgy 14 year old, if not for the name. Wishbone is a kid’s tv series from the 90s I think, so this guy could be in his 30s at least.

7 live action reboots were fine. How many live action reboots were there? I have to imagine Wishbone wants Uncle Walt to ganondie because there were a minority of stinkers made by Disney. They were stinkers because the producers gave Uncle Walt the black eye. I’m going to hypothesize based on the adjective black and him referring to a woke travesty that Wishbone is upset about minorities and neutered messaging being put into the movie.

They’re the kind of person who you’d pity because they probably can’t run off into other types of fiction like literature. Even if they did write, it’d likely be derivative without the capacity to build characters with new points of view. One might imagine TTRPGs/DnD might be too complicated for them. They still suffer under capitalism, so it’s probably not easy to find people to LARP with and those that have tried get frustrated with Wishbone. They sort of rely on big productions of fiction to fill a void for them. Their sports are probably getting encroached on too. Then, the kicker, is when you want to think of Wishbone as a sympathetic character, they go on to hate women or espouse racism and call it simple authentic backwoods silliness. Wishbone’s a prime candidate for a 3 week re-education camp where you feed them MDMA so they’ll discover empathy and then teach them to read. Then you send them off with a World of Warcraft novel and a DnD guidebook to live happily ever after.

Immediately going on to state that most of the live action reboots were good after saying that they are all shitty kind of undermines the point.

Yes, I have worked with, am working with, and most likely work with these kinds of people for the rest of my life. I’ve just sort of accepted it at this point. As long as I can persuade them to fight for their material interests at work, I’m more than content to put up with their crackpot theories like eating dirt for micronutrients or not drinking water but rehydrating by sitting in their bath for hours.
