I would argue it doesn’t matter if they go extinct. What is important is the non-market decentralized alternative. It is the only refuge and defense against enclosure and what can be called platform-feudalism.
For markets and free expression to exist we need a fediverse, a world where the average person and small proprietors can prosper instead of being exploited.
A large enough non-market alternative keeps the excesses of concentrated power in check.
The only thing that caught my eye is the age of the video. I’ll upvote it but that fact might drag on people’s responses.
The top priority should be remaking housing so it doesn’t require power to keep up comfortable (and everything else so we don’t need power to enjoy it).
Iran has had this knowledge for over 1000 years. Termites longer. It’s utter insanity not to do this. We imagine we live in a fast changing high tech civilization but our ‘solutions’ are to pretend renewables will let us carry on like before. Rural folk in Bangladesh have adapted to seasonal flooding by taking to living on boats for part of the year, their gardens on them providing shade under the vines. They’ve already adapted. The West, not so much.
For MTG and conservatives in general, woke or communism just means “(the acts of) people we don’t like”
