ItemWrongStory@midwest.socialtoUnited States | News & Politics@midwest.social•Shock new poll shows that adults increasingly think political violence is necessary to ‘get country back on track’English
30·3 months agoI do think it’s possible to vote your way into a situation you cannot vote yourself out of.
Like, for example, the way the system is currently setup gives much more representation (and therefore power) to smaller states. To change that, we would need to amend the constitution which would require a super majority. When have institutions willingly voted to give up their unearned power?

Right? It gets bad press as “the Charles Manson manual” but it’s all real basic stuff that helps. I’ve heard some allegations against Carnegie, so maybe he should be cancelled idk (I don’t know the claims or their veracity). but HTWFAIP is solid self help

politics @lemmy.world•The division and violence is coming from within the house.English
1·4 months agoAnd after the barrage of cringe tone deaf “humor” about a fucking political assassination I think my side doesn’t have room to criticize other people’s jokes.
Perhaps the reason that “humor” is coming out so strong is because Republicans are so cavalier about “having basic respect” and “don’t glorify political violence.” So yeah, I don’t blame people at all for glorifying the death of a mouthpiece of that hate and division, he was literally asking for it. He radicalized the youth, downplayed political violence, and encouraged stochastic terror. There hasn’t been a better example of living by the sword and dying by the sword, so as far as I’m concerned, until there are consequences for lack of civility, respect, decorum, not glorifying terrorism, etc, Republicans have earned none.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•So how do you feel about the whole Charlie Kirk divide?English
9·4 months agoObviously the ideal amount of political violence should be zero. If any other option exists, I think those must be taken first.
But sometimes the status quo is violence, and letting the status quo continue doing violence will overtime do more harm than one act of political violence. So mathematically, there must be some point where some violence is worth the cost of less harm in the future.

Jupiter is NOT a failed star, the lowest bounds for a brown dwarf are 13x Jupiter’s mass, and even brown dwarfs are classified as “substellar objects” (actual failed stars?). Wikipedia says Jupiter would need to be 75x more massive to fuse hydrogen.
Well, mostly Jupiter and a little bit of Saturn.

let me know when it’s adapted to visual novel

Chapotraphouse@hexbear.net•I love how everyone’s just wiped Epstein from their minds nowEnglish
18·4 months agoIdk, “Epstein didn’t kill himself” was all over the internet, regardless of left/right. Yeah nobody ever did anything about it, but I can’t really blame anyone (except politicians) for that, because of course child sex abuse by the elite would be swept under the rug, what else can you do but say “yeah that obviously sketchy prison ‘suicide’ was fake as fuck”
That and it wasn’t just Clinton they defended,
Nobody defended Clinton though? Like who, when presented with the facts about Clinton and Gates, defended them? The line I’ve always seen the most was “lock them all up then”
I don’t think “switching places and positions without any of them questioning why or what they actually believe” is accurate at all in this context, because libs never had the anti-list stand that MAGA/chuds have now.
