Privacy@lemmy.ml•Guys please in your privacy journey don't forget the routersEnglish
2·8 months agoI have Opnsense running on a tiny N100 mini PC from AliExpress for myself, but for my elderly parents I have a OpenWRT based solution from Banana Pi. They insist on always switching off their power completely when they leave the house, and I think OpenWRT handles that much better.

It’d be more naive to have a robot.txt file on your webserver and be surprised when webcrawlers don’t stay away. 😂
For some reason I heard this in a combination of the voices of Mitch Hedberg, and Nate Bargatze as George Washington.
Speaking of violent revolt against an oppressive system, where are we at?

PC Gaming@lemmy.ca•Discord CEO steps down, replaced with former Activision Blizzard CSO as they work towards being a public companyEnglish

My first distro was Debian, probably back around 2008. I used that and Ubuntu for years without having even looked at a desktop environment. For me, Linux was a server OS and I had to teach myself how to use it to spin up Teamspeak/Mumble, webservers, VPNs, etc.
I first started using Linux as a desktop OS in 2016. Tried SUSE and Fedora, but really liked Manjaro and eventually gravitated to Arch. I tried out NixOS a year or so ago and liked it, but I still go back to Arch with KDE Plasma.

Commodore 64 with the tape drive. I was always jealous of my cousins who had the floppy disk drive. Later we had a Tandy 2000.
