One of my daughters had to be blindfolded and put under a very bright blue light for several hours or maybe it was overnight, which is not a nice thing to see your newborn go through.

The blue light turns breaks down bilirubin as livers not yet active in some newborns to do this. It’s an amazing therapy without drugs.
High bilirubin levels are the indicator for jaundice, so yeah, same thing
