Lmao not giving infants vitamin K, an essential part of the clotting cascade is new level fucking stupid. It just buys your kid a few weeks until it starts making its own clog up juice stop being so stupid goddamn. I’ve given vit K and erythromycin ointment to literally hundreds, maybe thousand plus newborns before I left NICU. Anti vax shit was wild then, but I still placated parents and got the kids shots, even if I broke them up to appease the parents. That stuff would be so much harder now I’m sure.

Really feel like it would have been more appropriate to mark the homicide box here.

Yeah like if you just dont feed the baby it will eventually die of its kidneys and heart stopping “naturally”. And if you smother a baby with a pillow, it will naturally stop breathing. All death is natural death. Arguably death by any cause is the most natural phenomenon there is.

    A Bluesky comment

Life before modern medicine is summed up in four words: half the children died.

for real. I got to visit a newborn recently and the nurses were all, “oh yeah the jaundice is going down!” there’s so much that can go wrong.

Jaundice isnt weird for babies, and in most cases isnt something that requires any intervention. Kids get jaundiced because their little livers cant break down their blood overproduction (They’re switching out their fetal hemoglobin as they need to start breathing on their own instead of stealing mamas oxygen) so they get too much bilirubin, so they get jaundiced. It’s fine.

Jaundice is the least of concern for a baby from 200 years ago

Literally yes. Both because jaundiced in babies is usually fine, but also because those most likely to have jaundice are premies and that would suck to be before the invention of the incubator

I recently saw advertising for some kind of vaccine for pets being described as a “shot” in such a hamfisted way that it was obviously just trying to not say vaccine and trigger the antivax brainworms. Glad to see that doesn’t even work and people just think any kind of injection is scary now. I should start injecting hormones in public just to fuck with them

Have these paranoid nut cases considered this could be a measure to cull the working class in their cradles?

I like how they can believe the most insane shit but if somebody said to them “Listen to this - it’s simple. Fox News lies to you all the time to benefit the billionaires and your bosses.” - they’d never believe it.

I don’t see how this would be in anyone’s interests. The bourgeoisie needs workers. Even if all labor were to be replaced by AI, they’d still need an underclass to extract rent from.

All it does is drive up the cost of labor for those who do choose to work. Makes the skills that the AI can’t do worth an arm and a leg.
