The arrangement [MoU] promised sanctions relief allowing Iran to sell oil, access to billions of dollars in frozen funds and the possibility of a $300 billion reconstruction fund. Iran’s main commitments were to reopen the Strait of Hormuz to shipping and then negotiate in good faith over its nuclear program.

Gotta love this kind of ahistorical “analysis”. So you see, the US nicely offered this wonderful deal to Iran. Then nothing at all happened for three weeks. The US and “israel” were fully implementing and complying with the MoU.

Three weeks later, in early July, Iran began firing on vessels that the United States had expected to move through the strait. Washington was caught by surprise. “The very dangerous people from Iran, they’re sick,” Trump said at the time, also describing Iran’s leaders as “scum.”

Those bloodthirsty savages in Iran took advantage of us! Iran was supposed to just revert to the state of affairs before the US attacked it, right? The MoU didn’t clearly state that Iran would manage the Strait of Hormuz and the routes ships took through it. The US was perfectly fine to encourage ships to take a forbidden prior route. And perfectly fine to resume its bombing campaign because Iran tried to enforce its control of Hormuz.

Its so telling that the internet getting shut off is the talking point everyone ran with. Yet so effective.

No more love island and Euphoria or Snapchat is essentially an apocalyptic event for the yanks.

It would suck but, but I can’t imagine Iranians are even a 1/4 as reliant on the internet for everyday existence.

Araghchi is one of the reformists who still want to pursue diplomacy and has suffered a large reputation hit in Iran as a result, many still continue to call him a traitor and there was a recent piece of legislation that was all but in name directed towards him, Pezekhian, and the rest of the reformist camp preventing them from leaking information to western media thus playing into Trump’s market manipulation and undermining their strategy of economic attrition.

Oh hell yeah just remember if the administration wasnt utterly intellectually incompetent they would play into the divide between the reformists and the hardliners and instead of backing the son of the Shah start playing ball w/ the reformists. One way of getting the public to rally behind this would be covertly playing up the “celebrity” status Aragchi is attaining in the West from these interviews.
