Because at the end of the day it’s about controlling women, making us second class citizens, subjugating us beneath men and even the more offensive less Christian chuds use this “caring about life” line because it unlike saying “I’m a monster who wants to control and subjugate women” has resonance among women (many of whom unfortunately are indoctrinated, beaten with emotional manipulation, etc to be anti-choice), among normal people who are empathetic. It furthers their cause and they are fine being dishonest and joining the kindly church lady group and looking respectable in using this kind of objection. They are smart enough to know to lie to advance their cause and to use the ready-forged, effective weapon the Christian coalition has placed before them.
