Verification Codes.

One-Time my ass, more like, repeated times. I’m so tired of verification codes up the ass these days. Just today, I had to reset my PayPal password. So that meant there was a code sent to an e-mail address after the reset process was set, to begin with. Then I had to go through the obstacle of verifying the information of the account. And then even after the password was reset, I’m sent ANOTHER freaking code right after!

And it’s even more frustrating to deal with, with my bank. I’ve gotten random verification checks for making internal transfers within my account. Things I’ve done without any issue. But just one day, I got THREE verification checks to do what I needed to do!

This verification shit has gotten out of hand! I want it to just die, just like captcha. Whatever purpose they originally were intended to do, is lost in translation, because now they’re just obstacles that wastes our time every minute we have to bother with them.

    Conservatism.

Liberals and leftists discussing things would be much better. They’d discuss policy and how to implement it.

We wouldn’t need to have “discussions” in the “marketplace of ideas” around murdering people, deporting people, removing healthcare, denying people’s existence, etc.

Just because horse piss is a yellow liquid doesn’t mean it has to be stocked on shelves next to Gatorade.

I’m in IT and login to many different client systems and afcounts daily. I get at least 20-30 a day, swapping accounts, making changes, etc. once a month I have to completely wipe all history and cached data from Edge, otherwise things start getting weird and not working.

It’s a mess, but I will say MFA alone stops a LOT of attackers. Even if they know your password, unless you’re a specific target, they usually just quit once MFA is prompted. It’s a small balance between safety and convenience. I bet you’d be more pissed if they get into your account and were able to transfer it all out with a single password alone.

Hell, we use conditional access also, if your account teleports from florida to Colorado with a few moment, VPN or not, we get an alert and a phone call and will most likely lock your account until we speak.

Attacks are on the rise and getting better. Enjoy OTP and MFA, they’re probably saving you a lot more deadaches than you know.

    Religion.

To be clear, not belief or whatever, you do you. But religion is a cancer to this world.

The stigma against weed and psychedelics. You would think that legalization would make people more tolerant, but I’m finding the opposite to be true, especially among Gen-Z. Even the Boomers—who used to spread lies like weed will kill you or acid would make you go insane—still enjoy their 5mg edibles. IDK what is going on with the kids; I’m happy that they choose to abstain, but leave us who do partake alone. Stop being so damn judgemental. I got tired of arguing with people about this subject 20 years ago.

Perfumes and colognes!! Yes, I get it. It’s sometimes used to cover certain product smells, but ffs there needs to be a limit. It overstimulates my brain and puts me in anxiety mode. Last time I dined out, my chicken cordon bleu tasted like Axe body spray and Chanel from the next table over. How do people wear so much scent?!

My least favourite is when you’re swimming laps and a woman in the next lane is shedding an oil slick of perfume into the water. Gag!

    Fireworks.

I live in the Netherlands and New year’s eve is hell on earth here. Even the weeks leading up to it are bad. This year is the first year that consumer fireworks are banned, but of course there are already people going to Germany, Belgium or Poland to buy them anyway. And it’s not just the pretty stuff, it’s more like bombs. It would be so much better if it just disappeared.

I’m in Florida, US, and backyard fireworks on NYE are huge here. Alcohol and fireworks. What could go wrong? And let’s not forget about the animals and people with PTSD who are affected. Of course, we’re not just limited to NYE. They do it any major holiday, and days before and after. I hate it.

Oh man, even more than one holiday… Are fireworks allowed all through the year over there?

Yeah, it’s terrible for animals and traumatised people. We have a dog and while it’s been okay this year so far, we usually can hardly take her for a walk at night as we get closer to the end of the year. And we have a residency for people who’ve been granted asylum nearby with a lot of people who’ve fled the war in Ukraine. I can’t imagine what it must be like for them :(

Over here fireworks were only allowed on New year’s eve, mainly because of safety reasons. Every year there are people who get maimed for life, lose eyes, fingers or sometimes even die. Of course you can celebrate whatever you want throughout the year, you just can’t use fireworks.
