What do you say?

On the one hand they say they don’t want to and the posters are still kinda on leash after blahaj.

On the other, they’re a bunch of babies getting rolled in their own thread and they don’t have mods to protect them.

The ee’s are interesting because you never know what you’re gonna get. I’ve even seen them arguing with each other in Hexbear posts. It’s kinda wild. I enjoy the chaos so I hope they don’t defed

It’s strange isn’t it? I kinda got used to everyone on Lemmygrad being on the same page, and it’s not too different here. But some of the other instances are much broader. That’s to be expected on Reddit, where it’s just one site. But in federation? The whole thing should be more open in theory, across the board. But it’s not shaping up that way at the moment.

I wonder if things will become more fragmented in future. If places like world and ee defederated from leftist instances, will their left-wing users migrate? Or will they become less fragmented if enough liberal instances federate so that Lemmygrad and Hexbear don’t dominate? (Only a few months ago, the complaint was that Lemmygrad was too active for other instances because we clogged their ‘all’ feed – that’s changed quick.)

Most of the users in that thread appear to be against defederating, actually. I’m seeing a lot of “I don’t really like Hexbear but I think defederation should be a last resort, just block them” comments. Most of the “defederate Hexbear now!” noise is from a small handful of bad-faith whiners.

I think the ability for individual users to block entire instances will drastically reduce the number of calls for defederation.

Yeah I feel the odds are high. I’ve been doing my best to stay restrained and civil on the thread as well. Once the emoji bug is fixed there’s gonna be way more ranmao then they can handle.

I’d guess not right now, but I suspect the mod that posted here will do so later under the guise of Hexbear opinions there being Kremlin propaganda. He appears to already be laying the groundwork for it now and refuses to actually define what that would even constitue. I hope I’m wrong and misread him though as a bigger audience for our views a plus and plenty of people there seem nice enough.
