I saw they were celebrating a Republican winning Guam lol

I saw they were celebrating a Republican winning Guam lol

Ah cool! I actually never noticed that!

two years from now
Wow that would be amazing if it happened so soon. Meanwhile me with my PC from 2016 still going strong :)

They cannot win the war with nukes, so it would serve mostly as a way for Trump to move up the escalation ladder to a (perceived) point where he can claim they have “destroyed the Iranian nuclear program” and try to pull out.
Tehran would probably not be a target, too costly politically and will provoke a do-or-die response from the axis of resistance. There is very low chance that Iran capitulates if they get nuked.

This was a terrorist attack on all the satellite equipment still intact across the globe, just one example of the increasing anti-satelliteism rampant in our society.

The Iran, Russia, China and DPRK block is such a vibe. While the western block is vassalised to the extreme, these four are so different yet still united in anti-imperialism and for sovereignty.

Andreas Malm
Who has some extremely banger books in english, can recommend How to Blow Up a Pipeline and White Skin, Black Fuel for starters.
In 2021, Hilton and Swedish physiologist Tommy R. Lundberg published what the Canadian Centre for Ethics in Sport called “an argumentative essay in the form of original scientific research.”
I guess you didn’t even read the article they published, it’s not even my field of medicine and I can still tell it’s complete slop.
They have always sucked

I am unsure about the direct connection between imperialism and sexism, but for modern feminist theory I generally recommend Sara Ahmed who also runs a blog. She writes extensively on anti-colonial, postcolonial feminism and queer theory. I also think she has some article called “Critique on Gay Imperialism” or something like this also. I have a few of her books and think they’re quite good.

The cancellation of the “836 job cuts that had been planned in the public secondary sector [middle- and high-schools]” as well as the creation of “500 additional teaching posts in the public secondary sector for lycées [high-schools]”.
Forgive me for my ignorance, but this doesn’t seem like that high numbers? For a large populous country such as france that is. 800 jobs on a national level must be very little.

Trying to launder support for the Zionist state by putting the blame on current regime?

Yea, couldve maybe accomplished something if they did it in the 80s. It’s too late now for this, unless they juice that war budget up to $2 trillion, which they cant afford

Hmm lets see who this person is:
Marissa Mayer didn’t say AI is Death, destroyer of worlds or even AI needs ethical guardrails. Instead, she said it’s the sun—life-giving, bright, shiny, endlessly giving.
Uh?
What delighted me less about Mayer (pronounced MYE-er), as an alpha female in Silicon Valley, was her disdain for feminism.
Wow shes apparently an alpha female, what a way to squash the unscientific manosphere stereotypes!
I started learning about feminism as a teenager,” Mayer told me. “It was something more militant, more hardened, less based on merit. It didn’t resonate with me.” Then she used the word “shrill.”
Eh what?
Her bafflement by feminism, and gender more generally, began to add up. As a computer scientist at Stanford and the 20th hire at Google, a quarter century ago, she’s above all a geek. For Mayer, geekery supersedes gender.
Ahh, I am so geeked out right now. It doesnt matter if you are oppressed, if you are a geeeeeek…
What an absolutely terrible person lol.

(1) Bring back the exam. Even “books open”, let them refer to notes and the textbook if we don’t want to test memorization. It seems like giving them a written exam for two hours in a classroom is a ready antidote to AI slop.
Yes, it is insane that this is something that needs to be brought back. How can you set an individual grade if you don’t the person in question is the one who did the work, completely silly.
(2) Maybe this indicates the coursework should change? If AI is fully capable of solving the problems presented in the coursework, then that almost certainly means that in their careers they are going to be using AI to solve those problems. Meaning this is maybe a problem chasing a solution?
If math is part of your education is it usually to introduce logical, axiomatic thinking, problem solving etc. This is learnt by studying the material and trying to solve problems. Solving problems is a proxy for acquiring and developing understanding, but usually not a means to an end themselves.
I wouldn’t say that the exercises in the coursework are redundant because an LLM can spit out an answer to them, for all we know the model might as well (and this is usually the case in common enough courses) have been trained on the exact textbook and its solution manual. Similarly, as I said earlier, the exercises are not a means to an end, they are for the students to further their understanding.
Imagine a a course in swimming, which was graded on a set of exercises to be performed in the water, filmed and sent to the lecturer. If students got a passing grade by sending in AI-generated videos of them doing the exercises I don’t think anyone could claim “If AI is capable of solving the problems, maybe we should change the exercises”. The obvious solution is to change the way grading is done, for example an instructor being present when a student performs the exercises.
You wont learn to swim or ride a bike by looking at an AI generated video of the activity, you must do it over and over again, it is the exactly the same for other things.
Regardless, the concept of grading courses like this is so foreign to me in the first place. Either they will have to increase the standard to that of other countries, or just be even more circus than it is right now. It will be interesting to see how the free market system education system tries to solve this.

The “degree-millification” of the education sector, especially prevalent in the US – where I recently learned a large part of university grades is based on homework and take-home exams – is incredibly ill-suited for the current academic landscape. Discussed further here recently https://lemmygrad.ml/post/13110891

Ah so it is a kind of atomic reductionist argument – interesting!

Oh it’s nothing, just the regular stuff. At least once a year some ROK or “China democratic party” source tells western media he’s dead.
I mean this seems really unserious. They make money off data, stop giving the creeps your data – that is the only way to do anything different.
