The correct answer is, could I get you something else instead? Homies don’t let homies dehydrate.

Actually I’d argue most of them might do, as beer or cider (&other <5% drinks) might be a majority volume of things drank.

Perhaps. I wouldn’t put money on it.

Not that theyre best for hydrating, but you wouldn’t die of thirst with beer. The diuretic effect is nowhere near the same as with 50% alcohol. It wouldn’t be good for you in the long run but you’d survive.

Also there was a study showing that 1beer then water hydration was more efficient at hydration than just plain water. But that’s only one beer.

they don’t hydrate precisely because they make you piss them out, when you kidneys detect the alcohol they go extra turbo mode and filtrate more than usual which consumes all the water that you got from drinking the beer

I would argue that “okay, there’s tea, coffee, juice, and soft drinks [point to various places] if you’d prefer them” is also a valid response.

Absolutely 100% this. Drinking or not drinking is a choice. There is no excuse to hector someone into drinking just as there is no excuse to hector someone into not drinking (barring excess drinking, drinking & driving, etc. obviously).

Remember: never accept any drink alcoholic or not if you’re in a party and cant 100% trust everyone there, even if you trust the person giving you the drink someone else might have slipped something in

Same goes for pretty much any other food item. Noone has to explain their medical history or just likes/dislikes to you. Obviously the problem is way more prevalent with alcohol, because somehow “I don’t like tomatoes” is totally fine, but “I don’t like alcohol” is entirely unacceptable.
