I’m reminded of a journalist on the daily show telling Jon Stewart that they reported Iraq had WMDs because that’s what the CIA said and if they wanted to continue getting info from the CIA, they’d have to repeat it even when they didn’t know whether it was true or fake
Which like…makes their ‘reporting’ no different than just using their imagination

PR laundering. It’s just a way for the CIA to make their propaganda look like investigative reporting.
If we don’t publish CIA propaganda, then they’ll stop giving us their propaganda to publish!
Journalism can’t make consequences, it is only at best part of the road to them.
