In deux ex invisible war there’s an ai hologram of a pop singer. You can talk with her a fair bit, she likes taking you you, etc etc. Then you eventually actually meet the pop singer and she has no idea who you are and actively dislikes interacting with you.
It brings to mind a couple ST: TNG episodes, too. Geordi had a similar experience when he had the computer generate some physicist to help him deal with some warp issue and then met the actual her (who was married and a lot less warm with him) later on.
And Bartlett’s (was that his name?) introductionary episode, though his only has similar subject matter, as he wasn’t trying to bring the fantasy to reality but it came to light anyways when his addiction prompted an intervention that became awkward af.
Closer than I was, it was Liutenant Reginald Barclay.
And the actor was Dwight Schultz, which at first I thought was a hallucination from the search assist but IMDB agrees.
And when I asked if “the office character” was deliberately named after the actor, it informed me that no, Creed Bratton (played by actor Creed Bratton) wasn’t named after either the actor’s or character’s name. Then a follow up question informed me that the office character was Dwight Schrute, not Shultz, so that character probably also wasn’t named after him.
Being bad with names can sometimes be more hilarious than it should be.
