If you drew a hyper detailed Bugatti in the first panel, and then didn’t change the orientation at all would you draw it two more times slightly differently or would you copy and paste?

I don’t know that I can explain it as anything other than too much detail in the ‘wrong’ spots compared to what an actual person would do. Very detailed cars while having cartoon blob characters that phase out of existence randomly and things that don’t follow from one panel to the next (like the road leading directly to a parking spot, then both cars being in an unmarked grey asphalt field) all make my brain go “AI!”

Yeah, it’s a mixing of art styles.

The road, yacht, and bushes all choose not to put very much detail, but the actual cars are all essentially flattened photographs with perfect perspective and angles and shadows.

Not saying that level of accurate detail isn’t possible with hand-drawn comics (see pbfcomics for an artist who is simply amazing at choosing the level of detail appropriate for the joke) but the subtle mismatch just looks wrong at first glance.

Then, the inaccurate details in the exact same comic. It doesn’t seem like one coherent work with one author.

I’m curious to hear how they knew, as well. For some things, it’s immediately obvious to me, but then there’s stuff that others call out that I’m clueless about. I’d really like to learn. Maybe it’s because I don’t use any of the generative AI stuff, so I’m not familiar enough with its output to spot it? Or maybe I’m just getting old - lol, dammit…

*Editing to add: Okay, I see it now. The car driving on a road leading directly into what appears to be a car parked in a parking spot really should have been more obvious to me. I feel like maybe my bad untreated ADHD is at play making me blind to things that are obvious to others, perhaps? Like when I’m desperately looking for something I’ve ‘lost’ but it’s right fucking in front of me or even in my hand! 🙃

exactly how I feel when I pull into a parking lot full of sports cars and find a spot beside another wagon. Wagon bros unite!

I have an Outback from before this stupid Ford-ish redesign, and sometimes I am just in the parking lot like, “Damn, I made the right choice in automobile.”

As a matter of fact I’ve owned exactly four cars. And they were all awesome. The outback is just really good at what it does, which is drive around and not cause me much stress.

Honest question, is a current model CrossTrek much smaller than the older Outbacks?

Unfortunately, the trend seems to be in the other direction. Outbacks are getting a little bigger and a lot blockier. You can see the shared DNA with my car’s generation, but it’s just a little bit worse wherever you look (except inside, apparently) and really looks like a cheap Ford SUV. I think the Toyota collab EV is their only true wagon left, at least aesthetically.

            Much smaller? Probably not.

I like the accenting colors they started doing, but yeah the hard edges are a bit boring

P2 chassis is awesome. I miss my S60R. That one was a 6 speed manual. I had a few items to take the power level up to 360 or so hp. Also had an 01 XC70. Super comfy car and was an absolute unstoppable tank in winter driving conditions.
