I can clap with one hand, but it’s impossible to do without looking mentally challenged.
I can make a really loud noise that sounds like a Nazgul from Lord of the Rings.
To do it you have to pull air into your lungs against the resistance of your vocal chords. With low power it sounds like an old man/woman dying but with high power it sounds like a hawk. It takes some training because if you try to force it will aggravate your vocal chords but with some practice you can make a yelling-volume noise that does not at all seem human.
Bonus Story: I was on the brewery tour for Yuengling in Pottsville, PA, USA. It’s one of the oldest American breweries because it survived prohibition by using a small cave to shuttle beer out of the brewery. As part of the tour they take you through the unlit cave and the tour guide just going through the motions with the energy of Ben Stein doing preventative maintenance. In an effort to liven up the tour, when we got to the darkest parts I yelled, “Oh fuck, bats!!” and did the Nazgul shriek. The whole group ran out of the cave.
The tour guide was very annoyed and assured everyone there were no bats and bats don’t sound like that anyway.I’m a super smeller, and I’ve trained it well and made myself some party tricks. For example, I can identify a coffee down to the grow region and altitude based on the scent of a fresh cup.
Also I can roll myself up into a little ball and be very compact. I used to date someone with a thing for contortion, I don’t think I’ve really shown it off since.
I wouldn’t call myself a super smeller, but I smell things to check how hot they are because hot things smell different. My wife cannot believe in my ability and mocks me and says I’m just feeling the heat with my face.
I can independently move my eyes.
It’s become more difficult and painful to do as I get older though
Same lol
I can write upside down pretty well. This once got me a job offer after I did all the example problems so they were upright for the interviewer.
I can do a pretty decent Smeagol impression, complete with moving about on all fours. There really isn’t a time and place for that to emerge, sadly.
I’ve got a good Smeagol and a good Stitch. Never comes out
Someone I knew ran a “talent show” about a decade ago for a summer show at a local theater.
What they wanted was a showcase of musical talents and things related to musical theater specifically. They neglected to put that in any of the advertising materials.
I was quite upset when they didn’t include a little girl who did a spot on Gollum impression with movement, props, and full scene reenactments. She was super excited to show everyone, and while everyone else was blown away, “this isn’t really the type of talent we’re going for” is all he could muster.
That girl was a solid 10/10, and should have been allowed a slot in the show.
Her talent is wonderful, a truly hidden artform. It’s a shame the talent show organizer couldn’t recognize that fact.
You expect me to believe “Butt Master Flex” cannot find an appropriate time to say “my precious” and stare intensely while twiddling your fingers Mr.Burns style?
You sir, need to find your bootstraps
I suck a mean dick. 😤
What about a kind dick? 😊
Kind Dicks Remain Unsucked by Kolanaki
I have no idea why my voice to text capitalized the beginning of that.
Makes it sound like a punk rock song. I’d at least give it a listen.
We could get @assassassin to scream it out.
I am a partial spirit level. I can be three rows away in the office and see someone has an object on screen that is 2mm out. Unfortunately I then struggle to focus.
As for house hunting it’s like curse looking about. It’s like I have to switch off all internal sensors.
My boss is like this. Having drawn and done arts and stuff I used to have a pretty decent visual level (before the glasses). At least I could wing it pretty good. But he could walk out, take one glance at something and immediately tell if anything isn’t perfectly square.
Sometimes I would scoff and check with a measure but he was always right.
I remarked on it one time and he said it was more of a curse.
yeh i get that a lot…they say no its not then start measuring and then turn around and say hmm how did you know that, and look at me like i am hiding binoculars or something. I try not to do it TBH unless its someone i am comfortable with, its rude of me but if i don’t i know work has gone out wonky. I would internally combust.
I can fold my lips out over themselves to make a perfect “giant plastic clown lips” look.
Its usually not well received.
This is a skill I am genuinely impressed with
I can dislocate my arm/shoulder joint at will. It was cool as a kid; I could pull them far enough out of the joint to pinch my fingers around the collarbone. I still probably could, but now I’m old and haven’t hit my insurance deductible for the year, so not gonna try.
Alpha bravo charlie delta Echo foxtrot Golf Hotel India Juliet kilo lima Mike November Oscar papa Quebec Romeo Sierra Tango uniform Victor whiskey x-ray Yankee Zulu
All in one breath, transcribed via voice to text. I die a little inside whenever I hear someome say “A as in Apple”
I’m learning that medical receptionists/nurses in admin duty are not used to hearing this these days. Tried giving my email address multiple times recently and, as a soon to be former proton user, giving them an “@ papa mike dot mike echo” resulted in @papamike.mikeecho multiple times.
Did you say M as in Mancy?
“T as in tsunami”
“I as in Aisle”
ICAO FTW
I did a ten month stint in a call center to make ends meet once. I had to quickly and unexpectedly learn this. And, occasionally put up with the, I’m guessing, old vets who insisted on rattling it as fast as possible when reading off serial numbers, etc. And, WOULD NOT slow down to accommodate me at all. So, I’d just ask them to repeat it sometimes four or five times, until I got it.
Everything’s easy when you know the trick:

Why does it have to be alpha or bravo or delta? What difference does it make if it were apple, boy, Dennis? As long as it does the job.
Clarity and uniformity.
Remember, this was designed for old style, tube radios. They might repeat the message three times and still not get it perfectly.
For clarity.
For repetition, and clarity. And repetition.
Apple and boy and Dennis are clear, too. I feel like some of the ones you mentioned are actually hard to grasp. Foxtrot is one of them.
RobWords on youtube or Nebula has a 20 minute video on the NATO phonetic alphabet thats more engaging than most. Worth a watch if you have the time, but the tl;dr is there needed to be a concise, interintelligible code to transmit as much data as possible over unreliable connections and multiple languages.
I can write entire sentences with my toes very easily. It’s a bit sloppy, but legible. However my toes cramp up quickly and I can’t perform all day. There goes my circus career.
Edit: with a pencil to be clear
I don’t think this is actually much of a big deal, but I can tune a guitar by ear no matter how out of tune.
My uncle is a guitar afficionado, and we got into an argument when I said I could. He said you needed some kind of reference note or something like that. Wouldn’t give up. So I grabbed a guitar, scrambled all the tuning and tuned it.
He bowed in awe, but I think he just never realized he’s not as musically inclined as he’d like to be? Maybe it’s not common, but I highly doubt it’s impressively rare…
Sounds like you might have perfect pitch which only ~1 in 10,000 have. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Absolute_pitch
I don’t know…I don’t think so. I don’t know a B from a D from an E. I chalked it up to tuning guitars many times before with tuners and just remembering in my head what those notes are supposed to sound like.
I don’t think I could reliably hit the right pitch when singing random songs I know. Maybe close? That doesn’t seem special to me, people sing all the time…
Welcome to the hell of perfect pitch.
Please elaborate lol
Because I can detect the slightest variations in pitch I almost never sing as I am not a good singer. Nails on a chalkboard. With other people I can ignore it.
Can fold my last finger phalanges (phalanx?), the distal ones I think they’re called, absolutely useless superpower
Gleeking and blowing spit bubbles with my tongue. The spit bubbles float all on their own. It’s not like I’m drooling spit bubbles no, it’s a full on bubble floating. And in frozen air they’ll freeze too!
You could probably make a few bucks from that
